Sony VAIO J series in Windows XP

Most newer PCs are shipped with Windows 7 and provide no driver support to Windows XP. I bought one and it takes me few days to figure out how to get the Windows XP running. Just before we go into the technical details, I wish to share with you some advise from people that will DISCOURAGE you from doing that.

“I’m glad to provide you the information about the Device Drivers for the Windows XP Operating System. According to the specifications available, the Computer is preinstalled with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System and does not support Microsoft Windows XP Operating System. Sony’s VAIO Computers are designed for, and supported under, the OEM version of Windows pre-installed at our factory. If you install any other Operating System in your system, it is required to contact the manufacturer of that Operating System for any and all support issues or Device Drivers and Software Utilities they may have available” said Sony Support Centre.

The following tips applies to Sony VAIO J series but I believe you can get some hint if you are on other brand or models.

1. By default, Windows XP does not include SATA driver. You need to insert the SATA driver into your Windows XP installer. To do this, use nLite

2. Sony declined to participate in the verde driver program. This is bad. To get a display card driver, use laptopvideo2go.com.

3. Other model of notebook or PC from Sony may have support to Windows XP. Since PC from same brand usually use the same hardware specs. I have got most of my drivers there. For example, I use driver from VPCCW1AGG for my VPCJ118FX.

You can email me for a list of drivers I have compiled for VPCJ118FX for windows XP. I will be more than happy to share with you and prove to you Sony support team is not there to help.

Letters are not environment friendly

For about a year, we work with a mobile office concept. No mailing address are published in our website, namecard or letterhead. Customers have no problem trusting us for our business email solution. Our operation are not affected at all without the mailing address.

Knock three times

A notification email works like an alert to someone when something has been done. The next time you have implemented a notification email to your system, you’d probably want to read this:

1) For important action only such as payment received, renewal reminder, etc

2) Keep it short. Since this is repetitive, readers will take snap than reading through

3) If the occurrence of an action is high in a day, consider stop sending notification

4) Send out from noreply@xxxx.com. You don’t expect replies anyhow.

5) For extremely urgent case, add SMS features. After all, it is about alert.

From advertising in mudah.com.my, I contact a person named Luca Mariaci through web contact template for her Mercedes Benz E240. I ask her to reply me to my email. A day later, she email me, and she explain that she wanna sell her husband’s car which bought from Malaysia when her husband working in Malaysia. Now, her husband is working in UK, and she is staying at her hometown in Italy. The car is in Italy, and she emails me all the cars picture.

After that, she try to convince me by saying that the car have all the documentation of JPJ (road transport department document) and PUSPAKOM certificate (standard procedure for change of owner in Malaysia : computerized vehicle check up). I’m surprised that A WOMAN in Italy can know deeply about all the procedure to sell cars in Malaysia. wow.. She says if I’m interested, we can begin the transaction using escrow services for safety reason. I don’t feels good, so i try to trace Luca Mariaci’s email but fail because she’s using gmail account. I fail to get her location so, in my next email, i asked her to check my company website (local website, frequently accessed by the Malaysian only) with reason maybe she can find something interesting there.

Luckily, she do open the web and later i can trace several access from outside, which is very unusual from my server logs:

Then, she asked me my contact details, and after its given, she tell me that she will submit my name to the escrow company services. After that, less than 6 hours i get an email from ittoptran.com, telling me that a Merc Benz had been registered to send by air on my name. Now, i believe that this transaction is 95% fraud.

I do open the http://ittoptran.com, the web looks perfect just like a professional courier company. However, i fail to open http://www.ittoptran.com, only http://ittoptran.com can be accessed. Feeling something is wrong, i do check the name “ittoptran” and finally found that the name is “blacklisted” or “suspected” fraud. hehehe..

Apparently, this has became an issues who those who apply for internship training in our company. Yet, it is even more Complicated (if I am to borrow the word from Facebook) after they have consulted their lecturer…

“MUST” – It is just an office cubicle and it this really matter? Well, the most you can learn out of this limited space are: Bosses occupy the largest room doing the least work; Students sitting like Sardine with the oldest machines in the office.

“formal working hour and office environment” – Your colleague will show you what is so-called ‘formal’ by coming late and back home earlier. Your bosses? Hmm, you probably meet them once a while if you are lucky. The office environment? Make sure you have a office-politic survival kit with you all the time.

“Night working” – Smart you, lecturers. The Night working only sounds that your students are kind of working at those kinky night club. If not, what else?

“virtual office” – Ah Huat Restaurant needs an address because they have walk-in customers. For those without walk-in, is the office address really matters to your customers? I don’t print my address on my namecard because what my customers looking for are good services and support, they don’t care if I am operating from Pandora.
