1. Dedicated support team sit 24×7 to answer phone call & replying email

2. Service Level Agreement to cover you and your customers when thing goes down, than preventing it to happen

3. Assume that customer will renew services subscribed with you next year

4. MYOB or UBS are the best accounting software, and is easy to use

5. Original invoice must with a company stamp, signed by a human being

6. Don’t work on Saturday, it is a trend. Keep it to 5 day work week.

7. Punch card & access card help you to monitor your staff movement

8. Fax, Email and Phone line (PBX.. hmm) are must have!

9. Chatting during work is monster, blocked & firewalled!

10. Boss usually has a private room :)

Collaboperation – Yupe, it’s not a typo although Google suggested so. It is a new word, at least Google does not find any website with content with the same word!

Apparently, the potential of the website is very much underestimated by the management. The website can potentially become a new revenue channel. Interesting enough, we have put the revamp into a more solid figure, measurable. It’s not about improving the look and feel or serving more information after the revamp, but all about results. The result is derived from visitors and conversions. Conversion is the goal of the website, in monetary values. By identify the value of each successful goal, we manage to come out with a number in dollar and cent which will be finally presented to the management by Hakim next week!

Good luck, Hakim! By the way, Hakim’s new project has something to do with final year projects! We have a little talk about it, and I believe he can be a good driver for his project, the most important element in every online business!

How technopreneurs achieve their goal?

“Your dream is to travel the world. To make this happen, you think you need some money. You got a job and you work very hard to earn enough money…”

“You started an online business. It might takes you two years to make the project self sustaining. To cover the cost, you start looking for other income…”

What is your goal? If you have one, are you working on the right direction? Or, you are busy, but it seems never getting you any closer to your goal. If you are starting your own business now and struggling to make ends meet.. Think about this:

Goal: There are always ways to achieve your goal without any cost.

Cost: Reduce cost is easier than increasing income.

Income: Busy looking for income distracts goal

Think about this classic Chicken and Egg question. Visitors to Youtube are looking for video clips uploaded by other visitors. Which come first, visitors or video clips?

Many online business owner do not want to touch this. It is no doubt a tough questions to answer, yet so important that one should be aware of this and has a plan!

They appear like a dream project to me. They are different from conventional business which involved only selling of services of products. I doubt dream project is unplanned (like many stories you have heard from those successful Web 2.0 owners).

My partner, Yowchuan was one of the few entrepreneurs invited to MMU’s Centre for Commercialization and Technopreneur Development (CCTD) 8 years ago. Through it was merely a 300 sqf of space, but was already big enough for our dream to wonder far. Having the first office there, we never look back again.

If I’m not wrong, there are few incubators in Malaysia, check out the full list of MSC Malaysia status incubators. Looking back, some incubators are just like another MSC, both work like The Real Estate Corridor.

Not only this, some trying to confuse our technopreneur to make them believe that all big dream need some big funding. Yet, at many times, they can’t even tell you if your business model is right? You spent lot of your time attending entrepreneur-related talk and meet up with those ‘successful’ businessman who shows you where they are now, but not how to get there!

Working with my interns over the years, I believe we have talented graduates for sure. They are lacking of confident, instead of funding and cubicle space. Talking about this, schools should actually allow them to pursue their dream as early as during their final year project stage, than working on those impractical project to look good in GPA/CPA. If they start earlier, they save more time and prepare themselves better before graduating!

What entrepreneurs want?

The physical space of where they work is never bigger than their dream. When you’re the only one to go off the beaten road after graduating, you need more than the incubator to realize your dream!
