What’s next? I asked myself after we switch to 4 day work week last week.
My Glande Latte reminds me something. It’s possible to move an office to Starbucks? Occupying a corner with glass partition, from walk-in customer. This fixed and dedicated location with private LAN/WIFI – sounds like a reality show :)
“Starbucks in Malaysia is jointly owned by Starbucks Coffee International and Berjaya Group Berhad. The first Starbucks retail store in Malaysia was opened in KL Plaza since 1998. Today, we have 109 stores through out Malaysia.”
If this is possible, what would be the values of story to Starbucks and that company?
It is not impossible to rent a space in starbucks and make it your office. But there are several points that one should take into considerations. For instance, what type of business are you in, how many working people you have with you, if it is too many people, then it’s too crowded to work at there. I do agree that moving the office to starbuck will give people a sense of feel of relax and enjoy. It will boost people’s spirit to work. But all these are quite subjective. For Starbucks, of course they will have a fixed income every month, it depend on how much they will charge the company. Besides, they will have to take into consideration if it is worth it to rent that space out for company or leave it to serve the customers in order to make the most profits.
I agreed with Eunice’s point. Yet, there are some problem that need to be resolved! Some of the people go to Starbucks for surf net and chatting online by instant messenger, or even voice call! The noise might influence the performance and mood of work! Of course, such circumstance do not occurred in all outlets. Anyhow, this matter should be take into consideration.
Perhaps a Glass Partition can help. Starbucks can not sublet, that is one thing too.
why not just renovate the office to look like a Starbucks outlet?
Except you don’t charge for the caffeine-packs :-D
Managing own caffeine-shop is noise to an online business owner :)
Now it’s not possible with Starbucks. But this post does spark an inspiration. Perhaps there will be a new breed of office-for-rent service in the future like this!
